Bargain Hunt Find Success in Darlington
On Tuesday
25th June BBC Bargain Hunt and David Dickinson were to be found at Thomas
Watson’s Auction Rooms in Northumberland Street, Darlington.
Crowds flocked
to the popular salerooms and it was standing room only for the auction.
There were four Bargain Hunt programmes filmed and the teams had a very
enjoyable and successful day. Profits were made with one team selling a
Horse Measure Walking Stick for £290 having only paid £115
for it!
David Dickinson,
the host and antiques expert from Bargain Hunt, was especially taken with
another private entry to the sale, a Victorian Amboyna Side Cabinet with
painted silk armorial panel for the Duchess of Northumberland. The lot
was hotly contested at the sale and eventually sold to a local collector
for £8000 (CLICK

Auctioneer
Steven Dewar had a busy time following all the bids especially with BBC
Television Cameras trained on him during the entire 4 hour auction sale.
Many interesting items went under the auctioneers hammer including an Edwardian
Mahogany Display Cabinet and a Grandfather Clock by Terry of Richmond each
realising £1600; a Victorian Porcelain Garden Scene Figure Group,
which sold for £640, and an Unusual Treen Bowl achieved £480.
The auctioneers
are looking forward to another visit from BBC Bargain Hunt and Contestants,
which will be filmed at Thomas Watson’s, Northumberland Street Salerooms
in Darlington on 1st October 2002.
