TV-show lots star at auction
In our 10th November Gallery Sale, we had a number of lots that were selected as part of ITV’s popular antiques show Dickinson’s Real Deal.
For those of you who haven’t yet watched the programme, members of the public are invited to bring their antiques and collectibles to various UK venues. After a ‘secret’ independent valuation, the items are passed to dealers, who make their own valuation and try to purchase them with a cash offer. Both valuations are then revealed and the seller has to decide whether to accept the dealer’s offer or send the item to auction.
The show’s host is antiques expert David Dickinson who is on hand to offer advice and guidance.
Thomas Watson was delighted to be chosen as one of the auction houses for a show filmed in Harrogate on 26 September and six items, comprising an 18th century Delft plate; a Mills Grenade; a rare vintage car mascot; a pair of silver-topped glass scent bottles; a single stone diamond ring and an Oman cavalry sword went under our hammer. The highest selling result was the diamond ring (pictured) that reached £2,900.
The results of the auction are due to be televised in Spring of next year, so keep a look out!
