Selling at Auction

  1. When considering the sale of your items we can give guidance and an initial appraisal by email, please send images and details to enquiries@thomaswatson.com. (We aim to respond within 24 hours but may take longer during busy periods)
  2. Items can be brought to the saleroom without appointment on weekdays between 9am-4pm (Apart from Auction Day). Please have your full correct contact details to hand, proceed payments are made via bank transfer only, therefore we will also need your bank account number and sort code)
  3. Lots should have a value of £60 or more, or small collections of three of four items to make up a lot of similar value.

When conducting home visits/consignment collection etc all our staff and third party couriers undertake to work safely and securely in your home.

Our selling process is subject to our charges, which are outlined below.

Fees

Commission - 15% subject to a minimum charge of £9 per lot.

Internet and Photography Lot Fee: £4 per lot whether sold or unsold.

Withdrawal: £20 per lot.

Carriage: We can arrange collection of your goods using a third party courier, the cost of which includes travel to and from the pick-up address, packing, unpacking, loading and unloading.

All charges are subject to VAT

Our Valuers Peter Robinson & Peter Cartwright, who have many years experience between them and have a wealth of knowledge covering a wide spectrum are here by appointment to provide appraisals.

Home visits can also be arranged via appointment.

They are also available to provide written valuations for Inheritance Tax, Insurance and Family Division.

Reserve Price

An agreement can be made to set a reserve price on your items. The minimum reserve is subject to auctioneer's 10% discretion.

Please note that special terms can be arranged for items of high value or large consignments.

Settlement

Bank transfers are forwarded within two weeks of the sale, if the auctioneers have received the amount due from the purchaser.

Unsold Lots

Please collect unsold lots within 10 working days. Charges of £2 per lot per day +VAT will apply thereafter.
