What happens if I leave an absentee bid?

The bidding will not open at your bid. The bid will be executed against other absentee bids, internet and room bidding, bought as cheaply as possible up to your maximum.

What happens if two identical winning absentee bids are left?

The winner will be the earliest bid to have been received.

Can I view online?

Yes, all Lots are photographed and described on our website over the three days prior to an auction. Requested condition reports via email can include additional photographs.

Can I view on the auction day?

Our premises open at 8.30am and viewing (possibly limited for valuables) is available until 9.45am.

When can I Collect purchases?

Lots can be paid for and collected on the day of the sale. We ask that remaining Lots are paid for and collected by 5pm on the Thursday following our Tuesday auction.

Do you provide shipping and storage?

We do not provide shipping but can suggest a company called Mailboxes (MBE), Tel: 0191 2220018, Email: info@mbenewcastle.co.uk, they are best suited for smaller items, for larger items please speak to a member of staff who can provide further contact details of local couriers. Our premises do not have storage facilities so charges will apply from the Friday following a sale.

What do I do if I have something to sell?

Initially email images to us of the items you are looking to sell then we will advise the next steps, or make an appointment for an appraisal at the saleroom.

What is your commission rate?

Our current rate for selling items is 18% and our rate for buying items is 27%, both inclusive of VAT.

Do you hold specialist auctions?

Our fortnightly auctions always contain a broad spectrum of items showcasing what the region has to offer.

Can you bid live during the auction?

Yes, we currently offer two internet bidding platforms, these services carry additional fees on top of our normal charges.
